Best Book On The Market Today!
Fire Works, Hand Dipped Ice Cream, Live Bait and Jesus Saves by F. Vernon Chandler is an all out great book. It is full of exciting short stories and real life experiences that Vernon has had in his 50 plus long years of life. It is an entertaining and thought provoking collection of writings that will have you not only laughing but also thinking about life and what is important. Vernon's sense of humor will always bring out a laugh and a smile and maybe a tear or two as you read this book. And yes, those "not so smart" things really happened. This book will also have you examing your on spiritual thoughts and ideas of what is really important in life. I highly recommend this book not just because he is my big brother, but because I know you will enjoy each and every page.

First Hand
Published in Paperback by Mica Press (01 February, 1997)
Author: Jay Rogoff
Average review score:

First Hand: a heartbreaking look at love soon to be lost.
Jay Rogoff's First Hand is a technical and emotional marvel. It documents the speaker's attempt to win over the family of his beloved by joining the family farm for one summer. The family dynamics play out in novelistic depth, and one leaves--despite the narrator's proclamations otherwise--with a sense of inevitable loss to follow. Rogoff is never sentimental, never flashy--just brilliant. A terrific chapbook.

Flower & Hand: Poems 1977-1983: The Compass Flower: Opening the Hand: Feathers from the Hill
Published in Paperback by Copper Canyon Press (May, 1997)
Author: W. S. Merwin
Average review score:

Wonderful poetry
This book is composed of reprints of earlier volumes--as many of Merwin's volumes are now being combined and republished. The poems are beautiful and thought-provoking. Best are the poems from "The Compass Flower"--some of love, some of nature. A master poet.

A must for History teachers.
As a History teacher of 5th graders, it provides an excellent primary source. As you know, one of the national standards is the use of primary and secondary sources. Some of the material is a little high, but I edit what they need.

Freddy vs. Jason
Published in Mass Market Paperback by Simon & Schuster (September, 2003)
Author: Stephen Hand

Two Legends Finally Meet
Just got the novel from my store, and from the first 30 pages or so, I can tell you it's definately a keeper. I was never really a fan of the Friday the 13th films, but Freddy has always been a terrific villian. All the rumors seem to be true about Freddy being much more dark and evil in this film, and not a quip throwing goon with a claw this time out. It may amaze people that they actually seem to have thought out a plot for the film, but I wouldn't want to spoil the fun. Films like this are a rare beast nowadays and they need to be appreciated just for the fun of them. I don't know about you but I'll be there August 15th waiting to see a brawl I hope will become a classic!!! So if you're a fan of either franchise or just a horror fan looking for a fun buzz, pick the novel up. And remember don't fall asleep!!!!!!

Can't wait for the movie!
I am a huge freddy fan and I was worried when I heard they were actually going through with the movie. But if it is anything like the book people will be amazed!! Must Read

There are also instructions for making a French Blouse by adapting the party dress pattern, and a Round Lace Portrait Collar to go with it. Gentle training that is based on a real expert. This man trains for the Queen of England. I have never seen better illustrations in a horse training book. Or a more comprehensive problem solver.

From the Hand of God
Published in Paperback by Morris Publishing (09 April, 1997)
Author: Joyce Massengill
Average review score:

Inspiring
"From the Hand of God" gives comfort and encouragement as we go through our daily lives. It reminds me of our Heavenly Father's faithfulness to us, even when we seem to have run out of faith of our own. You can't just read it one time and lay it down. It speaks directly to your heart - I know that it did mine!
